Cells
Every living organism is built from tiny units called cells — the basic building blocks of life.
Cells are the smallest units that make up all living things. The shape and parts of a cell are perfectly suited to its job.
There are 2 main types of cells that you need to learn - Eukaryotic cells and Prokaryotic cells.
Eukaryotic cells
These are found in animals and plants.
They contain a nucleus that hold the cells DNA, surrounded by cytoplasm and enclosed by a cell membrane.
Prokaryotic cells
These are normally bacterial cells. They are much smaller. They have cytoplasm, a cell membrane and a cell wall but no nucleus.
Instead, the DNA is in a single loop floating in the cytoplasm, and they may have small extra DNA rings called plasmids.
