Adaptations are special features that help an organism survive and reproduce in its environment.

 

There are 3 types of adaptations that you need to be aware of:

Extremophiles  

 

An extremophile is an organism that has special adaptations to survive in extreme conditions (e.g. high temperatures, salty, high pressure)

 

A key example of this is deep-sea bacteria that live near thermal events- they need to withstand 400°C + crushing pressure.
