Extinction  

 

Extinction is when no individuals of a species remain alive. 

 

This can be due to a variety of reasons:

• Habitat loss  

• Catastrophic event (volcano, asteroid)  

• New disease  

• Environmental change (too fast to adapt)  

• New predator  

• Competition for food
