5.1.1 Homeostasis
Exam Board: AQA
Homeostasis
Homeostasis is the maintenance of constant internal conditions despite changes inside or outside the body.
This is done to keep enzymes working at optimal levels.
You need to know how homeostasis controls the following conditions in the body:
All conditions are controlled by 3 parts:
-
Receptor → detects change (e.g., temperature sensor)
-
Coordination centre → processes info (brain, spinal cord, pancreas)
-
Effector → carries out response (muscle or gland)
